Can this proofing kit be used for doughs other than sourdough

Yes. This bread proofing kit can be used with any dough that requires time to rise, with the linen liner used to create a smooth exterior, or a textured exterior if used without it.

Cleaning your bread making tools & bread proofing basket

We recommend that you wash your tools by hand with a soft sponge and mild detergents to ensure they are clean and then give them a good dry afterwards to make sure they are 100% dry. Please note: The use of harsh detergents and harsh material that on a scrubbing sponge, may cause spotting and light scratches on the surface of stainless steel, so we advise on soft and mild washing materials only.

Do not use soap on the banneton as this will leave a residue and affect the bannetons lifespan and never put your banneton in the dishwasher. To clean your banneton, firstly make sure all residue of flour is completely dry then you may wish to use a soft bristle brush to brush any remaining flour off the basket to avoid any growth. Every once in a while you may wish to hand wash and use a soft cloth and warm water. Then, dry it thoroughly with a towel before putting it away.

Let your banneton dry out thoroughly after removing the dough from your basket. Sunlight can aid the dehydration process, as heat helps to kill bacteria and dry out the basket. To clean your bread basket liner, use cold water and a gentle hand wash. Hang to dry. Do not iron.
